A place to grow

Kirkby children's day nursery was established in 2000 and is based in the David Lloyd Club in Knowsley.

We pride ourselves on providing a safe, exciting and enjoyable nursery where children thrive as they learn. We try and create a wonderful day care environment that is innovative, stimulating and inspiring for children and staff alike. Our nursery, rated Outstanding By Ofsted, is on one level and has a separate entrance from the David Lloyd Building. The nursery consists of four play rooms that are set out for children’s individual ages and stages of development. We also have a wonderful outdoor area for children to explore and investigate, with not only a climbing frame but also a wonderful wooden train. There are lots of things to do outside including, water play on a large scale, digging and gardening, reading, mark making and also imaginative play opportunities. We aim to provide parents with as much support as possible.

The nursery holds parents' evenings twice a year, giving you an opportunity to talk to your child’s key person. We also have a regular 'stay and play' evening where we ask you to bring along your child and experience the fun things we do at nursery with them. Kirkby Day Nursery is a lovely nursery with a great staff team, who pride themselves on the great family feel and the relationships we have with our parents. The nursery is within the catchment area of both St. Laurence’s and Park Brow primary schools.

We will be delighted to welcome you to Kirkby Day Nursery. Our friendly, experienced and highly qualified staff are on hand to conduct a personal nursery tour at a time to suit you.

Sarah Shepherd

I have worked at Kirkby Day Nursery for 11 years, I have over 20 years of childcare experience, I have a level 4 childcare qualification and also a level 3 management qualification. I have my own little boy Sam who also attends Kirkby Day Nursery, so he gets to experience all the wonderful things we provide. I truly love working with children and families, and sharing all the wonderful things that the children do on a daily basis.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
