Active Learning West Hampstead

Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Active Learning West Hampstead is located a short walk from West Hampstead Underground Station (Jubilee Line) and offers care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. The nursery benefits from a fully equipped art studio, a preschool science lab and an IT studio, as well as a sensory room for the younger children. The large garden means all children can explore the natural world as well. All meals are nutritionally balanced, prepared using fresh ingredients by our own chef

Meet the Team

Pauline Coker

I have been working within the Early Years sector for approximately 18 years. I have also taught English to young adults (ESOL) English Speaking as a Second Language within Further Education colleges.

In my previous role as Operations Nursery Manager within a Montessori setting I had the privilege of trouble shooting and implementing systems.

My passion for early years children still continues to thrives, my aim is to ensure that each child receive the best possible start to enhance their development holistically.

Sarah Wheatley

Sarah is qualified to Level 3 and has worked with children for 11 years. Sarah joined the Active Learning family as a Nursery Nurse at Finchley, 8 years ago and has worked her way up to her current role of Business Manager.

Sarah primarily looks after the financial and business development of the nursery but also works alongside Tom to lead the team delivering the highest possible quality childcare and education.

Sarah loves the varied days at work, where none are ever the same and enjoys the challenge of increasing and maintaining families joining our nursery.

Hasan Saffari (left) & Shereen Henry-Oliver

Hasan has worked in childcare for 14 years and holds a degree in Early Years. He joined the Active Learning group at West Hampstead in 2015, having moved from Manchester where he had been managing an independent nursery.

Whilst working across the nursery when required, Hasan is the leader of the Under 2s unit within our nursery, ensuring that our babies and toddlers have the best possible start by coaching, developing and leading the team to deliver warm, supportive care and exciting learning opportunities as our smallest children begin exploring the world.

Shereen joined kidsunlimited as a nursery nurse in 2012, prior to them joining the Bright Horizons family in 2013. Shereen holds a Level 3 qualification and has worked her way up to the role of Deputy Manager at our Beaufort Park nursery, before joining West Hampstead in 2016.

Shereen is the leader of the over 2s units, working with Room Leaders to ensure that our children in 2-3's and Pre-School have access to a stimulating and exciting curriculum that gives them a solid start in education and making sure they are ready to take the big step to school.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
