Active Learning Chiswick

Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Active Learning Chiswick offers care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. Children take part in a variety of activities including dance, music, science and IT whilst younger babies take advantage of their very own sensory room. Our garden benefits from a mud kitchen, a water wall and more for your child to explore. All meals are nutritionally balanced, prepared using fresh ingredients by our own chef.

Meet the Team

Conor Bathgate

I have worked with children since 2009. I started my career with the UK’s largest childcare social enterprise (London Early Years Foundation) as an apprentice. I had initially planned to complete my level three qualification to meet university entry requirements the following summer. After nine months I was enjoying my role as an apprentice and that I had the skills needed to support the nursery as a full time qualified practitioner. December of 2010 I was qualified and the newly appointed baby room practitioner. Working in a baby room was a great opportunity for me to develop my partnerships with parents and help provide a positive start to each child’s nursery journey. In 2012 I was promoted to deputy manager. I developed further over the next couple of years becoming the youngest manager in my organisations history (Over 103 years old). Within 4 months of my promotion I was also one of the first managers to achieve an OUTSTANDING Ofsted rating and still the youngest in my organisations history.

In the two years following this I supported several other settings though OFSTED and challenges alongside my own role as a manager of my nursery. By this point in my career I felt I needed more challenges and needed something to work towards, I joined university part time and I have just started my third year studying for my BA in Educational Psychology.

I’m thrilled to join Bright Horizons and excited about the development of my new nursery and how we can push ourselves to be OUTSTANDING every day, I’m excited to meet new people and learn new skills, and most of all I am excited by the sheer size and amount of opportunities Bright Horizons offers. I’m really looking forward to working with everyone and sharing our skills, experience and best practice.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
