Meet the Team

Jolene McGinn

I grew up in Essex where I studied media and photography. I love being creative and having grown up around children. With my mum having been a foster parent, I wanted to use my education and creative side to further education into childcare.

I first started work within a hospital; this is where I gained my childcare qualifications. To further my development I went onto work as a senior member of staff supporting learning through the use of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to other staff members within a private company and a convent.

After a few years I left to work in Sure Start where I progressed to be the manager of the centre. This had been a wonderful rewarding experience to have been part of. I supported and worked with a number of different agencies for outreach and It was here that I was head hunted to work in a private Chelsea Nursery School, where I worked for eight years, developing into a Deputy Head Manager during which time I gained my management qualification.

I chose to move on to expand into a new project which has taken me to Bright Horizons where I have been at Active Learning Chiswick since 2016 and love every moment. I adore my chosen profession and in my 17 years’ experience, every day is very different but very rewarding.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
