My career first began working for Leeds City Council in a Family Nursery Centre in 1982. After having my own five children I then had the opportunity to work for Kids Unlimited at the First Direct nursery close to the White Rose Centre.
I first began working there as a relief member of the team and then was shortly promoted to the Deputy Manager as Maternity cover. Within the space of a year I was offered the position of nursery Manager at the Stourton site. This year will be my 30th year in childcare.
The nursery is a 200 place nursery and situated at the far side of the building. There are three individual nursery units. I am passionate about working with children and my team whom many of our long standing members of staff.
Our ethos and our vision here at the nursery is to provide outstanding childcare for all our children and families. We gained an outstanding rating in August 2013. We continue to strive to maintain this outcome in the future.
I joined kidsunlimited in 1996 working as relief staff before being promoted to room leader and then unit leader in 2003. I have been the Deputy Manager since 2008 and have never looked back. I am extremely proud of our nursery and what we have achieved and I am very passionate about the quality of teaching and learning we provide for the children in our care
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
