A warm and enriching nursery in Harborne

Your little one will love having fun and making new discoveries at Court Oak Day Nursery and Preschool. Our Ofsted rated Good nursery helps children aged 3 months to 5 years thrive and flourish, and offers after-school clubs for siblings.

Excellent Resources and Activities for All Ages

Your baby will be cared for in our two dedicated baby rooms and specially-equipped baby garden. Experienced and nurturing practitioners will support your little one in meeting their developmental milestones.

In the toddler room, planned activities and resources encourage them to make exciting new discoveries.

Preschoolers will feel confident to start school as they take part in our Ready for School Programme and learn the essential skills for them to take their next steps.

A Bright Beginning for Every Child

Designed by our Early Years specialists, your little one will get the best start to their schooling life through our enriching and wellbeing-focused Bright Beginnings Curriculum.

Building on the foundations of the government's EYFS curriculum, it combines a wide range of activities to nurture and develop the skills your child needs to flourish and reach their full potential. This holistic yet personal approach supports each child's wellbeing, development, and progress - whether that's moving rooms or preparing them for school.

Children also enjoy Boogie Mites music sessions where they can learn about the world through music and song.

You can stay updated with your child's day through our Bright Horizons Family app.

Making New Discoveries Outdoors

Little explorers have direct access to our large all-weather garden and outdoor areas. This includes a vegetable patch and splashy mud area.

We also have dedicated garden spaces for different age groups, including one just for our preschool children.

Community Exploration and Out-of-School Clubs

Your child will enjoy regular trips to the library, local care home, parks, and shops. This helps little ones to extend their local knowledge and build confidence in new surroundings.

Older siblings are also catered for, as our Harborne nursery offers exciting out-of-school clubs. Parents and carers can get involved with these clubs, creating an enriching experience for the whole family.

All-Inclusive Care and Convenience

  • Nutritionally balanced meals are prepared daily by our onsite chef. Our all-inclusive care extends to snacks, formula, nappies, wipes, and creams.
  • An onsite car park and buggy park ensures pick-ups and drop-offs are easy.
  • Our nursery in Harborne has excellent transport links and is located close to Birmingham University train station and Birmingham town centre.

Meet the Team

Sarah Simmonds Court Oak Manager

Sarah Simmonds

I am passionate about making a positive happy environment for all staff, children and families. I have a passion to make sure everyone is included and believe that all children deserve the best start to their early year's experience. I have many years of experience and have never known another career other than working with children and families.

As the manager at Court Oak I want to make an environment that is so rich and enabling that children will want to learn without even realising it. I take the well-being of all the staff and children as a major priority.

Nursery Manager Court Oak Day Nursery and Preschool

Sophie Williams

My name is Sophie and I have been with Bright Horizons since December 2017. Within 9 months I have thrived and became Room Leader within the preschool room, I was then training for my role as Third in Charge. I have recently been promoted to the position of Deputy manager of the Nursery at the end of 2018 and Bright Horizons have helped me to develop the skills needed to go with this position.

Bright Horizons have provided me with lots of training and filled me with confidence for all of my roles and I feel the appreciation from the company for all of the hard work that I provide. I feel that all staff who are welcomed into the company are given the correct training that they need in order to thrive within their positions within the settings.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
