Meet the Team

Name of person

Jane Gordon

I have been at Talbot Woods since 2011, a client and community nursery based on Bournemouth University Campus. My journey started as a Nursery Nurse then to Room leader; I then progressed in to the Deputy Manager's position which I was in post for nearly four years. I was appointed as Manager in 2017, feeling privileged to continue to embed the high quality care and education to enable us as a team of 53 staff to maintain our Ofsted Outstanding rating.

Since gaining my Level 3 qualification in childcare and education in 2005, I have gained experience and knowledge with all age groups, abilities, disabilities and various cultures through my childcare career in Africa. I also hold a level 3 Forest school qualification where I have been able to implement Forest school sessions at Talbot Woods.

During my time with Bright Horizons I have been given the opportunity to support other nurseries when needed, where I have shared my knowledge and expertise from all my exposure to previous experiences.

I gained my CACHE level 3 in Childcare and Education in 2011. I started with Bright Horizons in 2012 in the baby room as a Nursery Nurse and progressed to Room Leader in 2013. I have recently been appointed part time Deputy Manager, I am really excited to join the management team and take on a new challenge.

Hi I am Caz, a part time Deputy Manager at Talbot Woods. I have worked at Talbot Woods for 4 years now and completed my Foundation degree in 2014. I’ve worked in Child Care for 14 years and I am due to come back from maternity leave after having my second child in March.

I feel extremely grateful to be able to work part time in my role for such a supportive and inspirational company, and to work as part of an outstanding team of people.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
