Specialist Early Years Care
Designed by our Early Years specialists, your little one will get the best start to their schooling life through our enriching and wellbeing-focused Bright Beginnings Curriculum.
Building on the foundations of the government's EYFS curriculum, it combines a wide range of activities to nurture and develop the skills your child needs to flourish and reach their full potential. This holistic yet personal approach supports each child's development and progress - whether that's moving rooms or preparing them for school.
Talbot Woods Day Nursery and Preschool is conveniently set in the grounds of Bournemouth University. Your little one can explore the freeflow garden and 'soft terrain' courtyard with confidence. The children also love growing vegetables and plants and enjoy exploring nature during our Forest School sessions.
A Dedicated Environment
Our separate sleep room ensures a peaceful space for your little one to recharge, and our sensory room is perfect for quiet exploration.
Excellent nutritionally balanced hot and cold meals and snacks are provided, using fresh ingredients.
Stay connected with our Bright Horizons Family app to see updates and photos via your smartphone or laptop.
Preparing for School
- Your child will experience the joy of learning through our Growing Enhancements, that focus on academic and creative skills at all ages. We encourage children to learn through play when they are young and introduce more structured learning as they enter preschool. Growing Enhancements include Growing Readers, Writers, Mathematicians, Artists and more.
- Our Ready For School Programme for preschoolers includes all our Growing Enhancements, but with an additional focus on life skills. Your little one will start to learn skills such as how to serve themselves at mealtimes, tying shoelaces and communicating effectively.
- Children love our Boogie Mites activity with exciting opportunities to learn about the world through music and song.

I have worked in childcare for over 10 years now, gaining my level 6 qualification in 2014. I started at Talbot Woods in 2018 as an Early Years Teacher and in my time, I have been a keyworker in every age group here. I became manager in 2021 and am thrilled to work with a wonderful long standing team.
I am also a creative person, holding a degree in interior design. I love being inspired by new ideas for the children and nursery, and will always take others ideas into consideration.
Hi, my name is Caz. I work part-time at Talbot Woods Nursery. I have worked at the nursery for 9 years now and have a foundation degree in early years. I am proud to work for Bright Horizons.
Hi, I'm Jas. I gained my Cache level 3 in 2011. I have been working for Bright Horizons for 8 years. I really enjoy working for Bright Horizons and find my job really rewarding.
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
