Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool, formerly known as Windmill Pre-school & Day Nursery, is rated Outstanding by OFSTED, and is a purpose-built, single-level nursery that provides children with quality care. We have been named as a top 20 nursery in the East Midlands by daynurseries.co.uk.
Within our nursery, we have five separate rooms: a baby room, toddler room, two nurseries and pre-school. All the rooms are bright and airy with plenty of natural light and access to outside areas. Our state of the art adventure garden is well equipped to ensure that children fully engage in outdoor learning. The outside area is divided into three play areas designed to support each particular age group. Each area provides lots of space for physical development and opportunities for children to develop an interest in nature and the world around them.
Our experienced, qualified staff ensure the children are cared for throughout their nursery journey and 90% of our staff are qualified to Level 3 or above and regularly trained. We offer parents a range of opportunities to engage in partnership with us from parents’ evenings, regular 'stay and play' sessions, room specific resource bags and our very popular lending library. The nursery is located within distance to local schools such as Richmond Primary School and Battling Brook Primary School.

I joined Bright Horizons in March 2019 as manager of Hinckley Day Nursery and Pre School. My main role within the setting is to ensure and maintain a high-quality provision following the guidelines set by Ofsted and the local authority as well as being compliant to government initiatives and legislation, ensuring health and safety is maintained across the board. I will work very closely with my team to achieve this on a daily basis.
I have worked with children since the age of 18 and have worked my way up from nursery nurse to manager in a variety of different settings over the years with children aged 0 – 10 years of age. I have enjoyed having key children in the past as a nursery nurse so am fully aware of how important the first 5 years of a child’s education is and I love to see all children develop and turn into the amazing characters that they become.
I strive for my setting to be the best it can be by guiding and supporting staff using my own experiences and knowledge to help them and with my previous experience of being an assessor I can also look at the different ways that people work and learn in order to help them achieve what they set out to do.
I am truly passionate about the care that we provide for our children and families and believe that working closely with parents is important as they are the children’s first educators in life.
I am looking forward to furthering my career and knowledge with Bright Horizons and working alongside all the children and families that come here.
I have worked at Windmill Day Nursery since 1996 where during my time I have gradually worked my way from a nursery nurse to my current position of assistant manager. Throughout these years I have worked with all age groups enjoying seeing how the children all develop differently and gain their own interests. I was very proud to be part of our first Outstanding Ofsted rating in September 2013 which was such an exciting day for the staff and children.
As part of my role I enjoy not knowing what each day will bring, its always a mystery! Above all I enjoy seeing the children laugh and smile each day.
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
