Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool, formerly known as Windmill Pre-school & Day Nursery, is rated Outstanding by OFSTED, and is a purpose-built, single-level nursery that provides children with quality care.
Within our nursery, we have five separate rooms: a baby room, toddler room, two nurseries and preschool. All the rooms are bright and airy with plenty of natural light and access to outside areas. Our state of the art adventure garden is well equipped to ensure that children fully engage in outdoor learning. The outside area is divided into three play areas designed to support each particular age group. Each area provides lots of space for physical development and opportunities for children to develop an interest in nature and the world around them.
Our experienced, qualified staff ensure the children are cared for throughout their nursery journey and 90% of our staff are qualified to Level 3 or above and regularly trained. We offer parents a range of opportunities to engage in partnership with us from parents’ evenings, regular 'stay and play' sessions, room specific resource bags and our very popular lending library. The nursery is located within distance to local schools such as Richmond Primary School and Battling Brook Primary School.

Request a call backI have had many years experience working in childcare with 5 of these being in management. I hold a degree in early Childhood studies and have also gained my early years professional status. I have always had a passion for working with children and I love to watch them grow, explore and discover new things.
I have worked at Windmill Day Nursery since 1996 where during my time I have gradually worked my way from a nursery nurse to my current position of assistant manager. Throughout these years I have worked with all age groups enjoying seeing how the children all develop differently and gain their own interests. I was very proud to be part of our first Outstanding Ofsted rating in September 2013 which was such an exciting day for the staff and children.
As part of my role I enjoy not knowing what each day will bring, its always a mystery! Above all I enjoy seeing the children laugh and smile each day.
Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.
Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
