A place to grow

First Class Day Nursery and Preschool is open Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 18:00, for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

We offer a warm, welcoming environment supporting the transition from home to nursery, and we provide excellent nutritionally-balanced menus using fresh ingredients prepared by our own chef. We're also part of the James Hutton Institute, and were involved in planting a wildflower garden to help bring back the bees.

I have been working with Bright Horizons Family Solutions since September 2016 as Nursery Manager of First Class.

I have been working in the Childcare Sector since 1999 when I gained my HNC Childcare and Education qualification.  Since then I worked in my first setting for 8 Years where I was promoted to supervisor then Deputy Manager.

I moved to Aberdeen in 2010 where I took on a Managers role in a private nursery and completed my SVQ 4 Childcare Learning and Development qualification.  At the present time I am half way through my BA Childhood Practice Degree.

Joseph Picker

My name is Joseph Picker, and I have been working in childcare since 2009. I started working in an English preschool and completed my NVQ 2 there. I then moved to Aberdeen in 2012 and joined the team of First Class in August of that year, where I started working with children aged under two.

During my time in First Class I have completed my SVQ 3, transitioned to the over twos room and I am currently embarking on my degree in Child Practice.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
