Discover our nurturing nursery in Barrow-In-Furness, designed to support your child’s development from the age of 3 months to 5 years.
Your child will be encouraged to explore all of our age appropriate resources, including our free-flowing nursery garden. Our beautiful garden features two areas, one for under two’s and the other for over two’s. So no matter the age of your child, they will have their own space to play, learn and explore in a supportive environment.
To further give your child the inspiration and confidence to navigate subjects such as mathematics, art, reading and writing, we practice a Growing Enhancement programme unique to Bright Horizons. This programme is delivered by our dedicated nursery staff who all have a minimum relevant Level 3 qualification in childcare, with some of our long-standing team having over 25 years’ experience in the childcare industry. Our unique Healthy Hearts and Minds activities provide inspirational and engaging learning experiences using the innovative Boogie Mites and myHappymind programmes.
Our nursery is conveniently situated within the grounds of Furness General Hospital, making pick-up and drop-off as convenient as possible for hospital staff and our local families
We are proud to deliver high quality childcare to local families in our community and this is demonstrated in our 9/10 score on daynurseries.co.uk and our ‘Good’ Ofsted rating (as of January 2020).
We would love to meet you and your child, so book a visit with us today and we will show you all our nursery has to offer during your own personal tour.

I gained my NNEB diploma just over 18 years’ ago and following this my work history has only ever been within the childcare industry. I’ve been a nanny, worked within nurseries, schools, crèches, and was even fortunate to be able to travel for three years and experience different cultures.
I’ve always known I wanted to work with children, and as my career path has only ever been in this, I know it has been the perfect choice for me. I really do enjoy what I do. I strive for perfection, and firmly believe that high standards can only be achieved by the standards you set and lead your team to follow.
I’ve been with Bright Horizons for twelve years, and it is the longest period of time that I have ever wanted to stay with an employer! This company had me captured with its different style, professionalism, and approach to learning and mainly for their vision. I was first appointed as unit co-ordinator working within the nursery classes in 2003, and with a team of only eight back then, we began to make those visions come to life.
Now with a team that’s nearly tripled in size, here we all are proud to be part of an amazing and well established nursery.
I left college with my NNEB certificate twenty four years ago and in this time I have worked as a Nanny, Childminder and Playgroup leader before eventually joining Bright Horizons as a Nursery Nurse working in our Barrow nursery for the past 12 years.
In this time I became a room supervisor and eventually deputy manager. I can honestly say I have enjoyed my time with my Bright Horizons family and have helped children grow from tiny babies and toddlers to preschoolers getting ready for their transition to school and take great pride in seeing confident happy children leaving my care knowing we have helped to achieve this.
As well as working alongside Leanne as part of the management team, I involve myself in the day to day life in the rooms and spend time with the children daily. I am always available for the staff offering guidance, helping with their training and development needs or just someone to turn to when needed.I am also a busy working parent and I understand the trials and tribulations of bringing up children and want to work together with parents to provide the best quality care for your child I can.
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
