Transitioning Between Nursery Rooms

Transitioning Between Nursery Rooms

Date: 14 May 2019

Accepting my child is getting bigJoe will soon be transitioning into the Teenies room at Wembley Day Nursery and Preschool (14 months – 2 years) so I’m feeling a mixture of emotions: nervous, overwhelmed and a little heartbroken as I come to realise he’s not my “baby baby” any more. He’s ready for this move! He’s securely hitting all the milestones you’d expect to see at stage of development, such as; confidence on his feet (but still working in balance), babbling, starting to sign along and follow instructions to name but a few (although getting out of the house is always a 20 minute negotiation)

The Baby room team have kept up with Joe and know that it’s the right time for him to transition smoothly with his peers. To support a smooth transition we settle with children their peers and they go up in pairs, like a buddy system. They start with a couples of hours in the new room during their free play session and gradually increase this every day and introduce different aspects of the new routines. It works really for the children and staff and as they begin to bond and form new relationships.

Time doesn’t slow down for anyone and I have to accept that my baby boy is growing up, you cannot stop the inevitable. It’s a fun time for Joe and his peers and everyone at Wembley bring such positivity and professionalism to transitioning smoothly!
