A place to grow

East India Dock Preschool provides high-quality care and education for children aged 2-8 years, and is located in a secure residential area less than a minute's walk from East India DLR, with only a 20 minute walk to Canary Wharf.

Our experienced and friendly staff team welcome parents and children to our beautiful newly refurbished nursery, where our age-appropriate rooms have lots of natural light, lots of space and plenty of activities which allow children to explore and learn safely and at their own pace.

Bright Horizons Preschool nurseries focus on getting children Ready for School – we have a wide range of play and learning opportunities designed to encourage happy, confident children who are ready to embark on a lifelong journey of learning, including our Growing Programmes, a unique set of enhancements which focus on reading, writing, science, maths, physical activity and art. To complement our Growing programmes, children take part in Bilingual Beats sessions, learning Spanish and French – we also have multilingual staff to support this. East India Dock Preschool children also enjoy football, yoga and weekly music sessions with visits from our Music Man.

We’re also very keen on keeping active and exploring the outdoors – East India Dock Preschool children can often be found in our private garden setting, as well as enjoying our local park and river side excursions.

Elena Elvira Dumitru

I am a mother of one beautiful four year old girl who currently attends our nursery. I have been in childcare for 8 years, I started as Bank Staff. I enjoyed this immensely so I trained to complete a diploma in childcare, this enabled me to become a full time Nursery Nurse, a Room Leader, Third in Charge, a Deputy Manager and finally to my current position of Nursery Manager. I have a real passion for what I do; I love to see children develop and grow . I also enjoy supporting my team, delivering outstanding experiences for children’s ‘early years’ life.

Gemma Ellen Allwright

I have been in childcare for 10 years, it has always been my passion, I love to make a difference and to support in the education of our next generation. I began my career in childcare at college and then worked my way through university receiving my teaching diploma. I started working for Bright Horizons as a Room Leader and was later promoted to become Deputy Manager at East India Dock Preschool.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
