Your Toddler's Day

What Your Toddler’s Day Will Look Like

Racing, crashing, whirling, twirling. Play is the ‘work’ of children, that’s why our activities enable them to learn about themselves, express their creativity, and start to develop key skills. Whether it’s wacky races, loose parts play or story time, their curiosity will be sparked by the range of activities and adventures for them to explore.

Each part of their day encourages learning and growing independence, from open-ended play building block towers and discovering what balance is, to choosing a snack and even potty training.

Our toddler rooms are carefully designed to encourage your child to start making their own choices and discoveries. Our expert team will help them navigate their feelings, build friendships, and encourage them to learn new things in new ways, every day.

Your Toddler's Routine

  • A Happy Start

We know mornings can be tricky, that’s why ours begin with a big smile and a warm welcome. Your dedicated key person will check in with you and your toddler.

‘Did they have a good evening or weekend? How did they sleep? What have they had to eat or drink?’ And, most importantly, ‘How are they feeling?’

Walking in to join breakfast, they’ll find a relaxed, social time, sitting at tables in small groups, to mirror a home environment. Children are encouraged to start learning to pour their own drinks and make food choices, helping them build confidence and independence.

  • Learning Through Play

We start the day with simple, fun activities to help each child settle in. Whether it's a singalong or a group game, it's all about making them feel included, comfortable, and excited for the day ahead.

Throughout the day, children make their own play choices - whether they fancy building towers or creating masterpieces (mark-making) with paint and crayons, story time, or exploring new playthings, activities are designed to be open-ended, engage and inspire their curiosity and encourage them to try new things. • Outdoor Adventures

Rain or shine, the benefits of outdoors are well known and there’s so much fun and learning to enjoy.

Our outdoor spaces are thoughtfully designed to stimulate the senses and spark curiosity, providing opportunities for your treasure hunter, astronaut or dragon rescuer to dive into the wonders of nature.

Whether it’s splashing in puddles, bug hunting, digging in the garden, or simply running around feeling the wind in their face, we encourage toddlers to connect with nature, develop their physical skills and explore the great outdoors. • Food & Mealtimes

Mealtimes are a big deal! Breakfast, lunch and tea are family-style meals where children and adults eat together. Here, encouraged by our teams and being around their friends, your toddler will start to learn about different foods, healthy eating habits and helping others, all while enjoying a freshly cooked meal.

In between, nutritious mid-morning and afternoon snacks like fresh fruit and milk, offer healthy options to keep energy levels up. To find out more about our Food and Mealtimes click here.

  • Naps & Quiet Time

In between the excitement, your child can choose to slow things down in our quiet areas as well as enjoy our calming activities like simple yoga, breathing exercises, or a quiet story time, helping them relax and recharge. For little ones who still have an afternoon nap, we create a cosy, peaceful and comforting environment that mirrors their home routine to ensure they can enjoy the rest of the day with us.

  • Home Time & Sharing their Day with You

As part of our partnership with parents, during the day you’ll get regular pictures and updates through our Family App, so you know what your little one has been up to!

At pick-up, we’ll share highlights with you, what your child enjoyed doing that day, what they ate, how well they napped and a million other little milestones of growing awareness and learning.

Our Toddler Rooms

Our Toddler Rooms

Toddlers love to move, so we design our spaces with plenty of room to roam. Fewer chairs and tables mean there are more opportunities for adventure, helping fine and gross motor skills as well as brain development.

Our thoughtfully arranged spaces encourage curiosity, patterns of play and movement, as well as providing calm spaces for when they need some quiet time. Young children, just like adults, can get overwhelmed by bright colours, loud noises, and too many choices. That’s why we put a lot of thought into creating spaces where they can focus, feel comfortable, and enjoy exploring at their own pace, in their own way.

“Since my daughter started at Bright Horizons four months ago, I have noticed such a difference in the way she is. She’s more comfortable around people, she’s taking such big leaps in her talking and has picked up so much.”
