Work and Family

In the Work+Family Team, we are privileged to work with some of the UK’s leading organisations. Our Future Earth plan focuses on minimising the environmental impact of our service delivery, and bringing clients together to learn from each other, share insights, and build a community that collectively supports mutual environmental priorities.

What We Achieved in 2022

Throughout the second half of 2022, our Client Relations Account Managers met with clients to share what the Bright Horizons Future Earth programme is, and how we plan to focus our efforts on four key areas:

  • Energy – It is Bright Horizons practice to use 100% renewable energy where this is in our control. At sites where a nursery client or landlord is responsible for sourcing energy, we will discuss options in a collaborative manner.
  • Food - We’re working with our food supplier regarding the carbon value of every food product we use. Where this has resulted in us adjusting our food menus to reduce carbon, we have kept our nursery clients updated.
  • Hygiene Products – We have informed our clients that we are working with our suppliers to have a carbon value for all cleaning products and will be trialling the efficacy of products which use less plastic packaging and fewer/no chemicals.
  • Behaviours - We talked with our clients about our ongoing conversations with parents and colleagues to revisit how we use source and products in a way that is environmentally friendly and also maintains quality.

What We Plan to Achieve in 2023

Moving Forward with Our Clients

We are working with our nursery client partners to help improve our measurements and secure agreement for piloting new environmental initiatives onsite, in collaboration with Procurement and Operations.

In 2023, we look forward to launching our cross-organisational Sustainability Panel with participation from client partners, with a view to share their experience and successes, so that we can make a bigger impact – together.
