I gained my BTEC National Diploma in childcare in 1994 and worked in a nursery as a nursery nurse. I then gained experience as a teaching assistant in schools and then went to Canterbury Christchurch College and studied to become a Primary school teacher. I gained my QTS qualification and taught in a local Infant school. Throughout my time teaching I taught all age groups in Key Stage one. I also had experience as a supply teacher teaching Key stage two, which broadened my experience. My preferred age group was Reception and I felt very passionate about the Early Years Foundation Stage and wanted to support this in the early years. This is when I joined Bright Horizons Maidstone and I have been Nursery Manager since 2002. We pride ourselves at Bright Horizons Maidstone with our amazing staff team and partnership with parents. It is a lovely environment to work in and I strive to offer the best quality childcare and education to the children.
I started my childcare career back in 1997 as an apprentice, I worked my way up to be a room leader whilst completing my level 3 NVQ.
I had the privilege of working with all age groups from babies to preschool gaining lots of knowledge and experience.
I had a break from childcare to follow a new carer but I realised I was missing being in a childcare environment, so in 2011 I joined Bright Horizons as a nursery administrator, the position arose for the deputy manager which I grab the opportunity and have now been Deputy Manager for the last 5 years. This role has given me the opportunity to use my knowledge and skills gained previously in supporting the staff teams and the environment for the children to thrive in.I enjoy the nursery environment as each day brings something new, I love watching and supporting the children grow and develop from babies and seeing them start on their new adventure to school.
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
