My Bright Horizons Journey

Date: 20 Jun 2018

I started my nursery career back in 1990, working as a newly qualified Nursery Nurse at our former Kings Cottage Nursery in Sharnbrook. I stayed working there for 2.5 years then my journey took me to Vancouver, Canada where I worked as a Nanny. On my return to England a Nursery Nurse job was available back at Kings Cottage where I stayed until July 2000. During this time my career path flourished from Nursery Nurse, Senior Nursery Nurse to Deputy Manager.

I was fortunate to be involved with the opening of our Little Gems Day Nursery in Irthlingborough and I transferred to this nursery as the Deputy Manager. This was a great opportunity to help build and develop a brand new nursery. During my time at Little Gems I also did a couple of secondments as the Nursery Manager which  gave me a real insight into how the managers learn to spin many plates on a daily basis, but all in a good way to ensure the jobs get done.

An opportunity in the marketing department came up in the Rushden office which I was successful in obtaining and I came to the office in December 2007. During this time I went onto have my daughter who went to Little Gems Nursery, so I have had the experience as both an employee and a parent of Bright Horizons. I continue to enjoy my working life at Bright Horizons and been very thankful for the flexible working pattern they have offered me since I returned to work after my maternity leave and also for the many friends I have made along the way.
