Food and nutrition

Date: 06 Oct 2017

We are committed to serving healthy, balanced and nutritious food that gives your child all of the energy they need for a busy day of play, learning and development.

From this week, we have introduced Red Tractor meat into our nurseries. Red Tractor was established in 2000 and has grown to become the UK’s biggest farm and food standards scheme, covering all of animal welfare, food safety, traceability and environmental protection.

We work hard to ensure that children have a healthy and varied diet. We encourage children to experience and enjoy new flavours and textures, giving them the confidence they need to try new things.

A big part of teaching children about the world around them involves planting and harvesting fruits, vegetables and herbs and letting children see the lifecycle in action. Being able to see this process allows children to have a better understanding of the role food plays in growing up healthy. It’s great for children to learn to grow their own food; it gives them something to be proud of and encourages them to eat fruit and veg more – they are more likely to eat it if they’ve grown it themselves!

We make every effort to make mealtimes fun and an opportunity to learn – meals are served family style so that children quickly grasp key skills and food etiquette – setting the table, serving themselves, sharing conversation and clearing away afterwards.
