Early years practitioners and families from Bright Horizons Barrow Day Nursery and Preschool generously banded together last week to raise donations for the local foodbank at the Abbey Road Baptist Church.
Allison Peel, nursery manager at Barrow Day Nursery and Preschool, said “A simple box of food can make a big difference and we are proud that our families have helped to support local people in crisis. We would like to say thank you to all who provided some fabulous contributions.”
The children at the nursery have all been developing their knowledge on the topic of healthy eating and have harvested their own crops to help them understand where food comes from. The concept of Harvest has been covered at the nursery as part of its Bright Beginnings curriculum. The curriculum, which has been designed by Early Years specialists, stakes a holistic yet personal approach and empowers children to build confidence, academic skills, and personal resilience.
