Children at Bright Horizons Tingley Day Nursery and Preschool recently enjoyed taking part in an activity which saw them taste a variety of fruit, after being inspired by those they found in the story Handa’s Surprise.
The children enjoyed tasting the different fruits and afterwards, adults supported a group discussion to reflect on this. They used a picture graph to help the children vote for their favourite fruit by placing a gem under the picture of their choice. Together, the children then counted the votes on their graph to see which was the most popular fruit.
“This is just one example of how we can use maths in our daily activities to continue making learning fun,” said Nursery Manager Katy Wormald.
