Westferry Circus Day Nursery and Preschool

Why Children Love Us

Back-Up and Emergency Care Only

Westferry Circus Nursery provides Emergency Care and Holiday Club only and is located within Columbus Courtyard on the Canary Wharf complex towards South Colonnade. Emergency back-up care is available to support you when your regular childcare arrangements are unavailable. Reservations can be made 35 Days in advance.

The Emergency Centre differs from a full day nursery as there is no formal structure or routine. We are here to make your child’s day as happy as possible, if that means they want cuddles all day then this is what we will provide. If they wish to play with cars then we will take the cars out of one of our many toy cupboards. When you first visit you will be asked to complete a daily routine sheet this will help the practitioners learn a little more about your child’s routine.

Each of the activities available will be tailored towards your child’s individual interests. We offer a range of fun and exciting trips to the Science Museum and also Forest School (on selected dates during the school holidays) The children also visit our Canada Square Nursery to play in their ‘bounce’ room, sensory room and large ‘play’ room which has a lot of ride-in cars, a Wendy House and a large sand-pit.

Meet the Team

Mandeep Kaur

I worked at the Little Unicorn Day Nursery for more than two years (previous owners of Westferry Circus). I started at Little Herons Emergency Centre as summer cover for 3 months whilst studying at University. I returned to University in October, 2014 and started to work part time at the Bank Street Nursery. I worked with the 15 months to 2 year olds until I graduated in 2015 and then came back to work at the nursery full time.  I decided I wanted to return to Little Herons Emergency Centre and spent a couple of months there before I moved bank to Bank Street to work with 2 to 3 year olds. I worked with this age group for almost a year before I was appointed Deputy Manager of what is now known as Bright Horizons Westferry Circus. Recently, I have promoted toLead Deputy Manager. I have worked with all age groups in the nursery and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Studies.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
