Our free flow, fully resourced toddler and preschool rooms are staffed with an experienced and qualified team who encourage individual growth and development. Our baby room is well equipped with its own milk kitchen and direct access to our garden. The generous outdoor space can be accessed all day by the children and in all weathers, with grassed areas and all weather safety tarmac. Our newly created mud kitchen offers children a sensory experience they all enjoy.

Meet the Team

Claire Hatherall

I am NNEB qualified have worked my way through the ranks of The Playhouse Nursery since joining them in 1996. My roles have included Nursery Nurse, Room Leader, Senior Nursery Nurse, Deputy Manager and currently Nursery Manager which I have been since 2007.  I am very proud of my staff team for our renewed ‘Good’ Ofsted Inspection. The Playhouse is now 25 years old and we look forward to our continued successes with your children.

Lizzie Duke

I joined Bright Horizons and The Playhouse Nursery as a relief member of staff in 2013 following my graduation from my BA Honours Early Childhood Studies Degree where I achieved an Upper Second Class Honours.

In 2014, I was promoted to the Baby Room leader, supervising one member of staff and approximately 10 children. Then almost 18 months later I was entrusted with supervising a larger room of children and more staff. This experience offered me the opportunity of promotion to Deputy Manager.
I love working with children, but especially babies because I have always had a very caring nature and I enjoy knowing that I am making a difference as they develop.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
