A place to grow

Bright Horizons' Waterways nursery in Oxford is located on the Waterways Housing development, off Elizabeth Jennings Way in Summertown. We offer care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

Purpose-built in 2007, our nursery boasts bicycle park and buggy storage facilities. The rooms are spacious and our fantastic large outdoor environment with a nature garden, growing area and age appropriate equipment is ideal for all children to learn and develop. Convenient parent parking at the nursery allows for safe drop off and pick up times.

Our highly qualified and longstanding staff team are dedicated to providing exceptional care and education for all children. We were awarded 'Good' at our most recent Ofsted inspection. A unique Ready for School Programme including Growing Readers, Writers, Athletes and Mathematicians prepares children at our nursery for their transition to school.

Fees include all meals and snacks, branded nappies, cream, bottles and formula baby milk as appropriate. Excellent nutritionally balanced menus are freshly prepared on site by our Chef catering for all dietary requirements.

Sylvie Ellier-Bogue

I have been with Bright Horizons for 16 years. Previous to this I have worked as a Au pair and Nanny. I came to Bright Horizons as a Bank staff and have worked my way up in positions. I have Level 3 in Childcare and Level 5 in Management. My passion is to see the children learn and grow in all that they do.

I have managed 3 different Bright Horizons settings in the Oxfordshire area and supported many others within our company and always strive to provide the best childcare.

Name of person

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
