A warm and welcoming nursery in Highgate

A bright and welcoming nursery and preschool in Highgate with learning opportunities designed for every stage of your child's development, from 3 months to 5 years old.

Grow and Learn

Rated 'Good' by Ofsted, Highgate Day Nursery and Preschool supports your little one's individual development with age-appropriate rooms.

Building on the foundations of the government's EYFS curriculum, our Bright Beginnings curriculum combines a wide range of activities to provide a holistic yet personal approach to support your child, whether they are moving rooms or preparing for school.

The baby room is a shoe-free zone so your little one can progress from tummy time to rolling, shuffling and crawling in a clean and safe environment. The self-contained milk kitchen is ideal for following the feeding routine you have at home.

Toddler Time

Similar in look and feel to the baby room, our age 1 to 2 years toddler room makes for an easy transition. Your little one is encouraged to explore a stimulating and safe space that gives a positive and happy learning experience.

Our room for aged 2 to 3s is spacious and divided into different learning areas that include a light board for experimentation with shapes, colours and pictures from around the world.

Getting Ready for School

At Highgate Day Nursery and Preschool, your preschooler will enjoy freeflow access to the garden and children's toilet to encourage independence.

Our Ready for School Programme supports your child's confidence in maths, reading, writing, and more. They'll also love creating their own masterpieces in our art studio.

Stay Connected

Receive regular updates about your child's experience at nursery through the Bright Horizons Family app via your smartphone or laptop. Photos and videos will give you precious insight into your child's development. You'll learn how they engage with various activities, such as the popular and fun Boogie Mites, where they can learn about the world through music and song.

Ease and convenience

  • Nutritiously-balanced meals are prepared by our onsite chef using fresh ingredients, and we hold a 5* EHO rating for food safety and hygiene.
  • Necessities such as nappies, wipes, creams and formula are also included, so there's less to pack on those busy mornings!
  • Excellent transport links near to Gospel Oak overground and Kentish town overground.

Meet the Team

Simone Prince

I am a dedicated childcare professional who has been working in the childcare and education sector for over 15 years.

I have been managing nurseries for 9 years and I am passionate about children's learning and development.

I currently hold a level 3 Childcare qualification, a level 4 qualification in the Management Of Quality Children's Services and an A1 Childcare Assessors Award. I am continuing to study towards a degree in Early Childhood Studies.

My vision is to create a welcoming, safe and stimulating environment for all children, a place where they can learn, develop and feel valued.

I look forward to working with the staff, children and families of Highgate Nursery and I hope to develop and strengthen the partnership with parents.

Charlmale Smith

I started working at Bright Horizons nursery in July 2007 as a permanent bank staff and I worked there for 3 years before going on to experience a Montessori nursery which I enjoyed.

I started working from March 2011 as a nursery nurse from which I progressed in doing my level 3 diploma for children and young people's workforce with Smart Training organisation.

In October 2015, I got promoted to Acting Deputy Manager before moving to Highgate as Deputy Manager.

I am currently having a superb time getting to know the children and the team and they have welcomed me so kindly.

Loma Ansah

Hi my name is Loma Ansah, I have been with bright horizons for the past 2 years but have been working in child care for over 10 years. From a very young age I have wanted to work with children, I wanted to help them grow and develop and know that I was a part of this. When starting my career in childcare I started as a nursery nurse and over time I became a room leader then Third in Charge then eventually stepping up to Deputy Manager.

I have loved my journey so far as I've been able to work with many different people, see many different nurseries and meet so many amazing children which over the years I have watched grow from baby room and go on to school. I look forward to developing in my career and continuing to grow each and every day.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
