A welcoming and enriching nursery in Derby

Bright Horizons have partnered with Toyota and welcome all families in the area to the nursery. There is plenty of space for children to learn and explore, with three bright and airy age specific rooms.

The passionate and dedicated team, work together to provide a joyful, stimulating, safe, and nurturing environment, where children can play, explore, and experiment to become confident, inquisitive, and capable learners.

Our well-qualified team of highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced staff work together to provide a well-balanced programme of fun activities and learning experiences, within a carefully planned curriculum with our unique Ready for School programme. Fostering an enjoyment of early literacy and maths, with our Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians Enhancement, helping children to recognise letters, words and numbers in their environment.

With the benefit from the use of a bright, well lit, building, there is a large garden for children to enjoy. The children are encouraged to play outside and explore the woodland walk area, the cycling track, and sensory stations including a yoga area, a sandpit, vegetable patches, and all-weather areas where your child can play freely all year round.

Safety is our number one priority. All our practitioners are First Aid trained and all nurseries have specialist SEND staff for children who require additional support due to special educational needs.

There is an easy parking area for drop-off and pick up, as well as buggy shed for your convenience and is conveniently situated just off Burton Road A38.

With all-inclusive fees, which means you have less to pack on a busy morning, our onsite meals are prepared with nutrition in mind. From healthy lunches and snacks to your chosen branded nappies and wipes included in the fees.

Bright Horizons Culture

Meet the Team

Bright Horizons Derby Day Nursery and Preschool Manager

Lisa Snell

I have worked in the sector for 20 years holding various positions that have enabled me to deliver only the very best pedagogical childcare practice on a daily basis. Children learn when they are secure, confident and trust the adults they are with on a daily basis; this is the goal for every practitioner in this nursery.  I totally enjoy providing support and guidance to the team of dedicated early year’s practitioners here, ensuring each child builds a treasured memory of attending Bright Horizons.   I have my Early Years Teacher Status and Masters in Education, which has provided me with the underpinning knowledge of learning and development with under-fives.  Within my career, I have been involved with Derby City groups for steering the direction of early years in the City.

I have been married for over 30 years and I enjoy being with my family whilst spending time with my daughter who is embarking on her higher education pathway.  In our spare time, we enjoy travelling to enjoy other cultures.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
