A Good Nursery and Preschool in Derby

Riverside day nursery in Derby provides quality care and education with a home-from-home environment.

We were rated a Netmums Favourite Day Nursery in the Netmums Awards 2014. In terms of catchment area, the nearest school to us is Alvaston. Due to our location, we have children who attend schools throughout Derby and outside. Our wide-ranging and excellent resources provide many opportunities for the children to take part in various activities. The children make their own choices and learn through play. The nursery is situated at the David Lloyd Club and we have the use of their facilities, including the dance studio and soft play areas. We are also very lucky to have a large, well equipped outdoor play area, with balcony, which is suitable to be used in all weathers.

Our highly-qualified staff are dedicated to providing a fun, safe experience for the children at Riverside. All the children have a key person who will observe and track their learning and development and plan activities based on their interests and needs. We provide a delicious healthy menu, and have our own cook on site who can adapt the menu to any dietary need. Riverside is an ideal location for parents who work in the city, and also for commuters. We are close to the motorway and a five-minute walk from the train station.

We will be delighted to welcome you to Riverside Pre-School & Day Nursery. Our friendly, experienced and highly qualified staff are on hand to conduct a personal nursery tour at a time to suit you.

Tracy Pattison

I have worked in child care for 20 years; I started as a room leader in a Pre-school and worked my way up to Manager.  I joined Riverside 5 years ago as a Deputy Manager and enjoy my time working across all rooms supporting staff, children and their families.

Name of person

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
