A place to grow

You will find Ridgeway children's pre-school & day nursery in Wroughton near Swindon at the very end of Inverary Road, which is a lovely rural area.

Our beautiful pre-school & day nursery comprises four rooms all on one level to cater for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We have a strong family feel at Ridgeway with our highly trained and qualified long-standing staff as well as parents and grandparents who share their knowledge with us. We are surrounded by fields lending themselves to superb opportunities for outdoor exploring - be it splashing in puddles, exploring the woods, talking a walk to see the animals in the fields or a trip next door to see the school's vegetable patch and chicken coop. The children participate in a wealth of experiences, creating highly motivated thinkers and inspiring imaginations. As well as exploring out of nursery, we also have our own amazing new adventure garden with direct free-flow access for nursery and pre-school children.

The children have access to extracurricular activities which include French lessons and 'Music and Movement' sessions. We have a brand new purpose built kitchen on site which we cook our delicious, healthy and nutritious meals from each day. All our food is sourced from trusted suppliers and Sam, our cook, who is an experienced, enthusiastic part of the team, ensures the food is prepared to the highest standards. Sam utilises her time preparing and cooking for all the children, she spends time within the classrooms teaching children about healthy eating and uses the school vegetable patch to encourage the children to participate in growing their own vegetables and observing their growth. Having our kitchen onsite ensures high quality standards throughout cooking to serving. Our menus change seasonally and cater for all dietary requirements. Please see the menu tab above for our current dishes. Our nursery has its own car park just beyond the entrance to Wroughton Junior School, and all doorways are accessed via ramps.

The Wroughton children's pre-school & day nursery is situated in two buildings and there are no stairs as we are all on ground level. We are located within the catchment of many schools which include Wroughton Infants, Croft Infants, Lethbridge, Wichelstowe, Chiseldon, King William Street, Wooton Bassett and Broad Hinton.

We will be delighted to welcome you to Ridgeway Pre-School & Day Nursery. Our friendly, experienced and highly qualified staff are on hand to conduct a personal nursery tour at a time to suit you.

Michelle Wigmore

Michelle has worked with children and young people for the last 30 years and has gained extensive experience through various different roles within the childcare and education field. Michelle started her career as a Nursery Nurse in a state Nursery Class and then moved into Private Day Care and became a Deputy Manager. After getting married and having her son Michelle became a registered Childminder and worked closely with the local authority and social services in supporting families. This then led onto a role as a Project Worker with the local SureStart Centre setting up a Creche, Pre-School and Day Nursery which she later went onto become the Manager. Michelle’s passion for quality training led her onto to joining a team of tutors at the prestigious Chiltern College in Caversham, Reading, delivering level 3 Childcare and Education training to young people wanting to become Nursery Practitioners. Michelle soon became the Tutorial Manager which also involved the pastoral care for the residential students. Unfortunately after 12 years in this role it came to an end when Michelle was made redundant. Michelle and her husband saw this as an opportunity to move from Berkshire to Wiltshire as their son was flying the nest to start university. This is where Michelle’s exciting journey with Bright Horizons started as she was appointed the Nursery Manager at Ridgeway in May 2018.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
