Children at Bright Horizons Heron Quays Day Nursery and Preschool on Canary Wharf have been enhancing their cooking skills by taking part in a number of cooking activities recently.
The children have shown a particularly interest in baking bread and assisted staff in doing so, as part of Bright Horizons’ Creative Cooks programme which aims to encourage creativity in cooking.
“Cooking offers a great opportunity to help with language development,” said Nursery Manager Lea-Anne Dean. “Talking and describing what we are doing can expose our babies to new words and terms. Regarding emotional development, children can develop a sense of pride and also feelings of competence when they cook.”
