Children at Bright Horizons Basingstoke Copper Beeches Day Nursery and Preschool have been enhancing their hand-eye coordination with water play sessions and fine motor skills with a play hammer and nails which they hammered into a wooden base beneath.

As part of the water play activity, the children were encouraged to use brushes to write with water on a wall, which also saw them build on their writing skills as well as their reaching ability.

“It was great to see the children socialising and encouraging each other as the water went onto the wall,” said Nursery Manager Tracy Elser. “With the second activity, they had to use all of their fine motor skills and concentrate to make sure the nails went into the right place.”
