Derby nursery receives Good rating from Ofsted

Bright Horizons Derby Day Nursery and Preschool has been rated ‘Good’ following its recent Ofsted inspection.

The nursery received its inspection on January 24th and was rated as ‘Good’ in all 4 areas of inspection: The quality of education; Behaviour and attitudes; Personal development; Leadership and management.

Inspection activities included the inspector observing children at play and assessing the impact of the educational programmes on their learning. Comments from the report included:

  • Staff ensure that children are provided with a good range of high-quality resources and experiences. They use their observations of children’s play and interests to quickly build on what children need to learn next. As a result, children make good progress from their starting points and are learning the necessary skills for their future.

  • Secure attachments are in place between the children and the staff. Key persons know their key children well. Babies happily give and receive cuddles, toddlers approach staff for help and support, and older children engage in playful interaction with staff.

  • Parents spoken to on the day of inspection noted the significant changes that have been implemented in practice. Parents complimented how well information is exchanged and shared with them about their child. A parents’ forum and daily diaries are now ways of sharing information with parents. This ensures there is a truly shared approach to children’s learning.

We are delighted to read so many positive comments about all aspects of the nursery in this Ofsted report,” said Nursery Manager Lisa Snell. “We will continue to strive for further improvements as we deliver our exceptional care and education to all children and families.”
