Basingstoke children make sponge cake

Children at Bright Horizons Basingstoke Day Nursery and Preschool have been enjoying the Creative Cooks programme this week.

The children learned about how different foods are made and prepared a light sponge cake which was enjoyed by children and staff and formed part of their balanced lunch.

“They enjoyed tipping all the ingredients into the bowls and helping to stir the mixture,” said Nursery Manager Nikki Paine.

Bright Horizons’ Creative Cooks programme aims to encourage creativity in cooking.

Children at Bright Horizons Banstead Day Nursery and Preschool recently celebrated Chinese New Year with their friends at the local care home.

The children enjoyed learning about all of the traditions associated with Chinese New Year and sharing that with residents at the care home in Banstead.

“They dressed up as animals from the Chinese calendar, played musical instruments and danced with a dragon,” said Nursery manager Gemma Bruton.
