Bristol children decorate for Chinese New Year

Children at Bright Horizons Bristol Day Nursery and Preschool have been decorating their role play area to celebrate Chinese New Year.

The children have transformed the area into a Chinese home complete with traditional decorations including lanterns and chopsticks.

“Stories and books have been shared about the celebration, the story behind the festival and Chinese culture,” said Deputy Nursery Manager Lucy Cragg. “Both Little Learners and Preschool children have had opportunities to make their own representations of lanterns, make marks based upon using traditional Chinese writing techniques (using a brush) and some have copied the language from print using chalk and pencils. We are also creating a dragon using boxes and various materials to take part in a dragon dance and will be sampling some Chinese foods.”
