Children celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday

The youngsters at Bright Horizons Tytherington Day Nursery and Preschool (recently renamed from kidsunlimited) in Macclesfield joined the Queen in her birthday celebrations by hosting a tea party.

The children had a great time and were busy playing fun games, making their own bunting and baking biscuits. To finish off the day the children had a delicious picnic in the large nursery garden and enjoyed a special ice cream cone treat afterwards.

During the day, nursery practitioners presented the children a selection of photos of the Queen during her reign. Amelia, age 3 commented on the Queen’s grey hair "When I grow up I will colour my hair purple."

Nursery Manager, Lorraine Roberts, said: "The children thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the Queen's 90th birthday, and learning about the Royal Family.  It’s important for children to learn about current affairs and the world around them."
