Highgate Nursery is proud to have received an “OUTSTANDING” result by Ofsted in their most recent inspection!

Highgate Nursery is located within the Kentish Town area of North London, situated in a large period building, on-site at Highgate Studios.

"Children make exceedingly good progress in their learning and development. The setting actively supports every child so that no group or individual is disadvantaged. Very successful partnerships between providers, parents and other agencies ensure individual children's needs are consistently met overall." Ofsted October 2011

Our nursery offers a stimulating environment in which babies and children learn and play. We offer spacious and airy separate rooms for different age groups, so that each child can take part in activities and learning experiences suitable for their level of development. Our nursery offers a free flow approach, enabling children aged two to five years daily access to the garden areas (which are defined into learning zones)– promoting choice, freedom and independence.

“Staff are very welcoming, knowledgeable and thoughtful in the care of our son, they have made the process with returning to work so much easier knowing he is well cared for and happy!” - Parent at Highgate

Children over two enjoy a variety of activities designed to stimulate them through play and learning. We have story and art areas, where activities include messy play, sand and water play, music and movement and singing. Pre-school children enjoy all of these activities too, but are also introduced to subjects such as reading, writing, maths and science, giving them a head start on preparations for later learning and developing their confidence and self-esteem.

"We are absolutely delighted that you have space for our daughter - as I'm sure you were aware we were simply bowled over with the place! It was so impressive to see such happy, safe and engaged children. Not to mention the kind, friendly and thoughtful staff. We really feel that our daughter will be very lucky to be there." - Parent at Highgate

Our children have a vegetable patch and grow a variety of herbs and vegetables, making Cookery Club particularly popular - parents join the sessions and bake with their child while at the nursery using ingredients grown in the garden!

In addition to Cookery and Gardening Club, we also host ‘Sports, Fit and Fun’ club, for two to five year olds. Children learn about working together, taking turns, as well as learning about fitness and how their bodies work. Babies and Toddlers also have Music and Movement which promotes listening skills and exploration of their bodies, and for younger, non-mobile babies we offer baby massage.

“The team at Highgate are invaluable and so supportive whenever we've needed it.” - Parent at Highgate

Hampstead Heath, one of London’s oldest and most attractive parks, is only a short walk from the nursery and is a regular location for walks, picnics and learning opportunities for children of all ages attending the nursery.

The children at Highgate Nursery have recently been very busy looking at the environment and have developed their very own 'Michael Recycle' out of recyclable materials! The mascot has helped the children learn about 'Going Green' and they have developed three separate bins for plastic, cans and paper at the nursery.

"Staff have an in-depth knowledge of each child and they customise their planning to suit children's individual needs as they change. They are proactive in identifying and working towards narrowing any gaps in the children's level of achievement. Opportunities are provided for all children to be successful." Ofsted October 2011
