Bank Street Day Nursery and Preschool

Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Bank Street Nursery provides high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We are located in a tranquil setting within the Canary Wharf Estate, just a short distance from the Jubilee and DLR Canary Wharf stations and buggy storage facilities are available on-site – making us perfectly located and convenient for parents who commute on to the Wharf.

Bank Street Nursery has smaller play rooms, with plenty of natural light, where each child has the opportunity to grow and flourish in a ‘home from home’ environment. The nursery offers a wide variety of engaging activities which encourage children to learn and explore.

Bright Horizons nurseries have a wide range of play and learning activities designed to encourage happy, confident children who are ready to enjoy a lifelong journey of learning, including our unique Growing Programmes, a unique set of enhancements which focus on reading, writing, science, maths, physical activity and art.

We’re particularly proud of our passionate and committed nursery team, with several of our practitioners holding Qualified Teacher status and degrees in Early Years Studies.

Meet the Team

Nichola Griffin

I always knew that I wanted to work with young children, particularly as an early years teacher, from a very young age. I initially completed my CACHE Level 3 qualification in 2006, before studying Early Childhood Studies at the University of Chester. I worked part time while completing my degree, gaining valuable experience and cementing my passion for high quality early years education. I proceeded to complete my Early Years Professional Status whilst progressing my career and becoming room leader within a preschool room.

In 2012 I started an early years teacher role, and quickly took on the role of Deputy Manager alongside this. In 2016 I decided to expand my knowledge base and moved to become an Early Help Officer with a Local Authority, working with some of the most vulnerable families in the local community. During this time I gained an immeasurable amount of experience, helping to raise the standards of parenting and ensuring every child was given the opportunity to reach their full potential. My Bright Horizons career started in March 2017 when I moved from Manchester to London, to become the Deputy Manager at Bank Street Nursery in Canary Wharf. I am delighted to be Nursery Manager now and I have loved my time with Bright Horizons so far, and look forward to continuing my career with the company!

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
