Bright Horizons is excited announce the launch of the Modern Families Index 2017, an annual research study conducted by charity Working Families and sponsored (for the fourth year now) by Bright Horizons.
Research like this is vitally important as it gives voice to working parents and carers, and insight into their challenges and aspirations, helping employers to see clearly the need for meaningful dependant care supports and family-friendly workplaces.
Looking at the evidence in this year’s report from 2,750 families, there are some clear struggles for both men and women, particularly as the most common working pattern for couples is now for both to work full time (previously it was more usual for one to work part time). There is also some indication that men may soon face a “fatherhood penalty” similar to that experienced by women for many decades.
