Bright Horizons was delighted to partner with and attend this year’s Balanced Business Forum – debating and exploring the latest thinking on talent management and effective performance solutions.

The event, which took place on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 October 2015 at London Heathrow Airport, was a great success and attended by more than 400 professionals from over 100 organisations, including professional services, finance and utilities sectors.

With a jam-packed agenda and many senior leaders in business sharing their expertise and guidance, there was lots of food for thought and many debates on how we can maximise our organisations’ performance and drive better balanced business.

Maximising Talent and Leadership

Encouraging more female participation in leadership roles has been of great importance and we have seen excellent progress.  A key theme throughout the event, there is still plenty more to do in driving forward a gender balance, and also in encouraging ethnic diversity and engaging younger employees in leadership.  As our leaders of tomorrow it’s essential that we listen to their views and maximise our talent pools to address productivity and fill the gaps in skills.

The digital age is upon us – from wearable technology to electric cars – and our workforce are the pioneers. It has been predicted that in the future, everyone’s business will be a technology business and we have an opportunity to understand the role that technology can play in maximising our potential and supporting our workforce.

Engaging with Government and the education system is crucial in affecting change, especially in creating better balanced business, reducing stereotyping for roles and increasing gender diversity. Our voice and engagement with key stakeholders provides a platform on which to highlight the many challenges, and employers should consider how we can maximise this opportunity.

The event was a must attend for any leader and next year’s conference will take place on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 November 2016.
