A Place to Grow

Zoom Nurseries Beacon Road is a full day care setting registered for 32 children under 2 years and 6 months. The nursery is a storey building and alongside the three rooms for children incorporates a kitchen and laundry room. A full time chef is employed and breakfast, lunch, tea and mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks are freshly prepared on site. There is access to a secure outdoor area at the rear of the building.

As a bespoke unit for under 2 years 6 months we pride ourselves in providing experiences and opportunities for children’s individual needs and catering for their rapidly changing requirements and providing appropriate changes as they conquer new skills.

The outside space is well resourced and we have developed it further through the addition of a mud kitchen and several interactive sensory boards for children to explore. We have incorporated sensory plants and miniature watering cans and sprays, a wooden feely box to allow the children to engage further in sensory exploration.

Bhavika Patel

My name is Bhavika Patel; I have been working in childcare for over fourteen years. I started my career in childcare in America as an assistant in the Preschool room while completing my community coordinated care for children and directors credential in childcare. This gave a solid foundation for both the theological side of childcare along with children’s growth and development.

I started working at Zoom in 2009 as an Assistant Practitioner and within eight months I completed my NVQ level 3 in Childcare and become a Qualified Practitioner. In January 2011, I was promoted to Lead Practitioner and Third in Charge and in May 2013 I was further promoted to Deputy Manager. In June 2015, I was successful in being promoted to Nursery Manager of Zoom Brockley.

In January 2017 there was an opportunity to manage the Baby Unit which I was successful securing. Starting as an Assistant and progressing to Management has given me an invaluable insight into the development of children whilst working within various team roles.

Patricia Hehir

I was born in Ireland and I grew up in a small town called Hospital on the country of Limerick. All of my family live there including my 4 brothers and my parents. I moved to London in March 2015 to pursue my journey in childcare.

I joined Zoom in March 2015 as Senior Practitioner and worked in Zoom Brockley for the past two and a half years and joined Beacon Road in November 2017. I have worked in childcare for 11 years now and I have a Degree in Early Childhood and Education. I love working with all ages but babies are my area of expertise.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
