An Inspiring and Educational Nursery in Oxford

You and your child will love Woodstock Road Day Nursery and Preschool. Set in a green, residential area of North Oxford, every aspect of our nursery has been designed to support the education, growth and wellbeing of your child, from the age of 3 months to 5 years. We are a client nursery for the University of Oxford and cater to all employees or students who access the university.

Each of our rooms is large, bright and airy, with plenty of space for a range of age-appropriate activities. Resources include a kitchen role play area, construction and building blocks, an art corner and reading nooks.

We practise Growing activities for our preschool children as part of our unique Ready for School programme. Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians inspire an interest in words and numbers and support early academics. Other activities, such as Creative Cooks and Green Gardeners, encourage children’s interest in creative subjects and the world around them.

Our nursery in Oxford has two beautiful garden areas, offering traditional outdoor play equipment, a tunnel hill and space for tricycles, alongside a soft play area. Exchangeable resources mean that we can suit every age and stage.

We value our nursery families and strive to create a strong bond with our community. We hold 'Discovery' stay and play sessions throughout the year, and encourage family members and carers to participate in many of our joint activities such as Christmas Family Sing-Alongs, Easter Bonnet Parades and Halloween Pumpkin Carving sessions. Our Parent Nursery Association is very active and is a key support for the nursery and parents alike.

Woodstock Road nursery is situated on the corner of Woodstock Road and Rawlinson Road. We are close to the centre of Oxford City, and on direct bus and driving routes in and out of Oxford.

We would love to meet you and your child, so book a visit with us today and we will show you all our nursery has to offer during your own personal tour.

Meet the Team

Woodstock Road Day Nursery and Preschool Manager

Liz Hardiman

I have a varied background in childcare which spans 30 years. From a child minder working from home, to completing my Level 3 NVQ. With my children both at school I became a full time NVQ Assessor and gained my post 16 teaching qualification allowing me to teach my passion.  Over 12 years I opened two diversification nurseries, completed my Level 3 in Play Work, Level 4 in Early Years, Level 5 in Management and I also continued with assessing and teaching. Working alongside City and Guilds, I helped support the development of some of the different childcare qualifications available to staff working in the sector. I joined Bright Horizons in 2011. It has always been my passion to support staff to develop and progress in their chosen career and to be able to meet the needs of the families they care for with ease, confidence and professionalism.

Woodstock Road Day Nursery and Preschool Deputy Manager

Kirsty Dunn

I have been working at Woodstock Road since I left college in 2014. I started as a nursery assistant and have worked my way up to Deputy Manager. following successful completion of my L2 and L3 Child Care Qualifications and the Early Years Foundation Degree.  My passion for childcare has never waivered and I am keen to share this with the team who work alongside me in the nursery.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
