A grand and inspiring nursery in West Dulwich

Our families love West Dulwich Day Nursery and Preschool which is set in a grand and beautiful church building and features a fantastic garden. We have our own sports coach, making this an ideal nursery for developing physical strength, coordination, balance and teamwork.

Grow and Learn

Designed by our Early Years specialists, your little one will get the best start to their schooling life through our enriching and wellbeing-focused Bright Beginnings Curriculum.

Building on the foundations of the governments EYFS curriculum, it combines a wide range of activities to nurture and develop the skills your child needs to flourish and reach their full potential. This holistic yet personal approach supports each child's development and progress - whether that's moving rooms or preparing them for school.

Preparing for School

  • Your child will start learning all the skills they need for school through our range of Growing Enhancements, and our Ready For School Programme. Exciting and educational activities help them to become Growing Readers, Writers, Mathematicians, Active Athletes, Creative Cooks and more.
  • They'll love our Boogie Mites with exciting opportunities to learn about the world through music and song.
  • Freshly prepared meals are provided along with support to encourage your little one to serve themselves and use a knife and fork.

Follow your little one's progress via the Bright Horizons Family app and receive daily updates including photos and videos of them enjoying their favourite activities.

Ease and Convenience

  • Good links to public transport, with Gipsy Hill Station is just 5 minutes walk.
  • Free off-street parking and a designated buggy park allow for convenient drop-offs and pick-ups.
  • We provide necessities such as nappies, wipes, creams and formula so that there's less for you to pack on those busy mornings!

Meet the Team

April Marshall, Nursery Manager at Putney Day Nursery and Preschool

April Marshall

Having worked in Children's Social Services for many years I decided that I wanted to do something more child centered. I have always had a passion for reading and teaching children to read. I come from a large family, the eldest of 7 children and taught my siblings and my daughter to read and wanted to be involved in a profession where I could have an impact on children's literacy.

I had considered being a reading mentor but couldn't fit this around my current work commitments so decided to enter nursery. I started as a lunch cover and realised quickly that I had finally found where I belonged. I decided to retrain as a nursery practitioner and after working at a couple of nurseries, joined my first Bright Horizons nursery in September 2014 and was drawn in by the Growing Readers programme which embodied everything I loved about inspiring children to develop their love of reading and gave me the tools to make the learning experience truly fantastic. Even as the manager I still take the time to have story times with the children when I can.

West Dulwich Deputy Manager

Tracey McArthur

I am a confident, knowledgeable worker, dedicated to creating a stimulating, encouraging, safe atmosphere for each child's individual needs. During over my 19 years' experience, I have developed strong skills in supporting young children, and am genuinely passionate about providing the best child care and play experiences. I have been in childcare since 2001, working my way up from unqualified to room manager, unit coordinator and to deputy manager. Learning all the way, ever expanding in childcare knowledge, and understanding the ever evolving way children like to learn. Working with lots of different families and professionals along the way.

I consider myself as a hardworking and self-motivated individual who enjoys facing challenges and finding a professional way to deal with them. I enjoy listening to children, members of staff, and families, take their thoughts into consideration. I feel that my good communication skills are very essential when working as a team especially when children are involved. In my leisure time I enjoy socialising, travelling, listening to music, reading and visiting my family.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
