Emma Dunsmore

I have been working for Bright Horizons for four years now! In the four years I have ticked off lots of things I have wanted to achieve during my career. The company has supported me all the way through my professional development. I began my journey as a Room Supervisor in the preschool room and during that time I was completing a BA Honours Degree in Early Childhood Studies. My nursery manager was very experienced and she supported me in gaining the qualifications I desired. I was proud to gain a 2:1 in my degree! After lots of hard work, the results finally shone. My manager then encouraged me to take on the Early Years Teacher Status. The company allowed me the opportunity to attend regular training and development days.

After achieving the EYTS I was then asked to help other nurseries where they needed some support in implementing good practice and improving areas of leadership. I felt I was really able to guide and mentor others, just what my qualifications enabled me to do. I felt I really needed this challenge and that’s when my Regional Manager gave me this opportunity to develop and grow professionally which has really paid off as I am now a Deputy Manager in a wonderful nursery. Without the nursery support I wouldn’t have been able to achieve what I wanted too and for that I will be forever grateful.

I have worked in childcare since 2008 and I hold a NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care and Education as well as an NVQ level 3 in Management within Early Years.

I have a strong passion for caring for children and supporting families.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
