Meet the Team

Sarah Harman-Sheppard

After completing my NNEB Diploma in 1991, my career has been varied. It started off teaching Maths and History in Primary Schools followed by working for Social Services, running a Nanny Agency and a Deputy Head at a Montessori School. However in 1996, I joined Teddies Nurseries and in the subsequent years my career has taken many different pathways, from opening many nurseries to being a Quality Compliance Manager, Health and Safety Manager and a Field Manager.

I opened Godalming Nursery in 2002 and enjoy the family orientated and calm atmosphere that is created here by my amazing and committed team. In 2011 my son was born, so I became a parent of Godalming. I can put my hand on my heart and say that Bright Horizons has played a significant positive role in my son’s life. My husband and I comment that bringing our son to Bright Horizons has been one of our greatest investments.

I am passionate about education and care for all children and will always be fully committed to my career. My team and I continually keep updated and extend our qualifications to ensure we are progressing in all areas in our nursery from the EYFS, special educational needs, health and safety to the safeguarding of the children. Finally my days are never boring, the joy of being with the children is priceless!

This year I celebrate 10 years of my childcare career at Teddies Godalming Nursery and Preschool. After completing my BTEC National Diploma in Childcare and Education Level 3 at Guildford College in June 2006, I started here in October 2006 as a Nursery Nurse. I have progressed in my career through the nursery to my current role; which I have held for four and half years.

Bright Horizons have a fantastic training programme and I have been able to complete online and external training including First Aid, Child Protection, Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and many more. I am currently the nurseries SENCO Rep, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and Fire Marshall Rep allowing me to use my skills throughout the nursery.

Every day is different at Teddies Godalming Nursery and Preschool; from the moment you walk through the doors in the morning, to the moment you walk out of the doors in the evening. Every child has their own personality and this is what makes my day exciting, enjoyable, and memorable and it’s what makes my time here special. The team spirit within the nursery allows us together to achieve all and more for our families that enter our nursery; caring for them and their individual needs.
