A place to grow

Summerfields Day Nursery and Preschool is open for children aged 3 months to 5 years and we have been rated Good in our latest Ofsted inspection.

We have a large, secure outdoor learning environment with a nature garden and exploration areas. We have three units, one each for children under 2, rising 3s and preschool age. Each unit has two free flow environments for the children to explore both inside and in our age appropriate gardens.

Your child can take part in a variety of extra curricular activities, such as ballet, sports and singing.

These all help support our unique Growing Enhancements and develop the Early Years Foundation Stage further.

We look forward to welcoming you for a personal tour.

Kate Smithers

I started my adventure with Bright Horizons in December 2015, as a Deputy Manager at Summerfields before being promoted to Nursery Manager towards the end of 207. I currently hold a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies from MMU.

Before joining Bright Horizons, I spent three years living and working in Australia and New Zealand. It was here that I realised how much i wanted to be a nursery manager. Childcare is my passion and making sure that the highest level of care is given to the children at all times as well as having an environment set up for them that enables the children to explore and be challenged on a daily basis.”

Karlie Wilde

I started my journey at college in 2005, where I studied for a Level 3 CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education. From there I began working in a nursery setting, enhancing my career until I became a room leader for a baby unit. It was then that I began to develop an interest in Communication and Language. This encouraged me to go to University to study Deaf Studies and British Sign Language. During my time at University, I continued to work within the childcare setting by volunteering and supporting children with hearing difficulties and language barriers.

I had my little boy in 2015, who is now also at Summerfields Nursery. I recognise that working in Early Years has always been my passion, and I am thrilled to be the Summerfields Deputy Manager.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
