A place to grow

Southam Day Nursery and Preschool provides care and early education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We offer a warm, welcoming environment supporting the transition from home to nursery. We are a well-established nursery, having provided childcare in Southam for over 22 years.

We also have strong links with local schools, pre-schools and nurseries. Our long standing team, who are highly qualified and passionate about childcare, are all Paediatric first aid trained. Our nursery garden has a large lawn area, beautiful trees, vegetable garden and flower beds, offering an idyllic setting for our children to explore and learn. The outdoor space is accessible from all nursery rooms.

We also offer extracurricular activities, including football coaching and music sessions, to give our children opportunities to develop. We make drop off and picks ups as safe as possible with our nursery car park, and the excellent nutritionally-balanced menus using fresh ingredients are prepared by our own chef.

Meet the Team

I started at the Bright Horizons Southam in 1998 as a bank staff member. I had trained previously in textile design and surface pattern and  thought it would be fun to do a couple of afternoons teaching children arts and crafts. Fast forward 17 years later and here I am! Those couple of afternoons turned into full days as I realised this was what I was meant to do. I absolutely loved every minute of getting to know these new little people and their wonderful outlook on life.

I worked in Preschool for nine years as room leader then progressed to Deputy Manager. In 2007, along with my lovely then Deputy, Laura,we took on the challenge to manage the nursery together along with the rest of the fantastic team. Southam has flourished year after year and is now in its 22nd year …We say here’s to the next 22!

I have worked at Southam since 2003. I went to the Southam for the first time for my two week work experience placement when I was at school. I knew from those two weeks that childcare and the Southam was where I wanted to start my working life. I left school in the May and began working at Southam in the June.

I started as a nursery assistant and achieved my NVQ level 2 and 3 whilst working and attending college one day a week. I worked in all rooms gaining experience with all ages of children as a nursery nurse. I was then given the opportunity to become third in charge and Preschool Room Leader. I am now the Assistant Manager supporting all rooms and my fantastic manager, Angie. I have had a wonderful journey so far at Southam and long may it continue. I love working with children, no day is the same and I get the privilege of teaching them during vital development years.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
