Meet the Team

Karen Macer

I have recently started working for Bright Horizons.  My career in childcare started some 25 years ago, working with children from 0 – 14 years in various settings, growing within my role from a student and now to a manager.

I use all the skills I have learnt in making a setting a warm and safe environment for the children and their families. Every day is exciting and rewarding.

Jem Patel

I have been working with children for nearly 9 years and have enjoyed every second of it. Starting  as a bank member of staff and making my way up to nursery nurse, room leader, third in charge and now deputy manager, I have learnt many new skills. Since joining Bright Horizons my education continues; one thing I do know is that there is nothing better than a child’s smile to make your day.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
