A stunning and spacious nursery in Otterbourne

You and your little one will love our beautiful Bright Horizons Otterbourne Day Nursery and Preschool. Set in an expansive character building with exceptional facilities, our dedicated staff will support your child’s development from age 3 months to 5 years.

Learning Through Play

Designed by our Early Years specialists, your little one will get the very best start at our Bright Horizons Otterbourne Day Nursery and Preschool through our enriching and wellbeing-focused Bright Beginnings Curriculum.

Building on the foundations of the government’s EYFS curriculum, it combines a wide range of activities to nurture and develop your little one’s skills.

Your child will be inspired by our lively atmosphere and have access to plenty of exciting activities. Whether they are practising their communication skills during creative role-play, getting handy with construction or enjoying some messy sensory play, there’s always something to spark their imagination and boost their confidence.

Getting Ready for school

Your child will be supported as a Growing Reader, Writer, Mathematician, Artist and more, through our Growing Enhancements and Ready For School Programme. This includes the fun and popular Boogie Mites where they will learn about the world through music and song.

Your preschooler will be well prepared for school and beyond with support from our qualified preschool teacher. We help them learn important life skills such as serving themselves at mealtimes, tying shoelaces and communicating effectively.

Outdoor Adventures

Babies and toddlers have their own safe and cosy gardens to explore. Older children share a large garden that includes an external classroom, climbing equipment, woodland walk area, mud kitchen, and so much more to inspire outdoor learning.

Our covered, all-weather areas allow for fresh air play, even in the rain.

Children also love exploring beyond our nursery with regular visits to local woodlands and fields, and they especially enjoy trips to the library on our very own bus!

Meet the Team

Otterbourne Day Nursery and Preschool Manager

Kim Doubell

Early years is the root of a child’s education and development and I feel privileged to be the manager of a wonderful setting with a dedicated team that inspire and encourage children every day. As a working mum with 3 of my own children, I know how important it is to have a place where your children can thrive, be safe and secure with a team that are nurturing and caring.

I joined Yellow Dot Otterbourne part time in 2016 while also childminding after teaching for almost 20 years in the UK and in South Africa.  I have always had a passion for developing and inspiring others and helping them to learn and grow and have worked in different teaching roles as well as working as a Learning and Development Officer for a retail company.

In 2017, I became a Room Manager and Third in charge using Froebelian principles and The curiosity approach to enable the children in my care to learn and develop through real life experiences, open ended provocations and links to the community while creating awe and wonder.

In September 2018, I became Nursery Manager of Bright Horizons Otterbourne Day nursery and Preschool. As a manager, I am lucky to lead an enthusiastic team in a wonderful setting that provides a stimulating environment for the children, helping them to develop in all areas of the EYFS.

Otterbourne Deputy Manager

Sarah berry

I have over 25 years of experience working in early years and have worked in many childcare roles giving me a greater understanding of children and their family’s needs.

Istudied and completed my NNEB and have a leadership and management qualification which supports us to develop an inspiring team.  Being a parent myself whose child has been to this nursery, I understand the importance of creating a nurturing and safe environment where children feel confident to learn and grow.

I feel very passionate about the attachment of children and how the Key Person approach works well to support the children when they first start with us.  I love to be outside and enjoy spending time outside with the children showing them the wonders of nature and seasonal change the garden brings.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
