Little Gems Nursery

Why Children Love Us

We have recently made the difficult decision to close our Little Gems Nursery, whose last day of operation will be Thursday 31st August 2017.

The decision to close is in no way a reflection of the nursery team’s performance; they have done a fantastic job and we are very proud of their ongoing commitment to the children and families from Bright Horizons and the local community.

Nutrition

Our excellent nutritionally balanced menu is changed regularly to encourage a varied diet and is approved by the Childrens Food Trust. Here is an example of a typical menu.

Meet the Team

Sharon Hales

I have been at Little Gems since 2007 and have been working with children for over 30 years. I have a level 4 qualification in childcare and management.

Sam Godleman

I have been working for Bright Horizons now for over 13 years and I have progressed from nursery assistant to Deputy Manager, gaining my Level 3 in Childcare through Bright Horizons too. I am an Enhanced Special Educational Needs and Disabilities co-ordinator also which has helped Little Gems to support all children and their families. I have worked in all rooms of the nursery and with all ages but my favourite age is 2-3 years as every day is different and they are developing their personalities and are always busy!

I enjoy working for Bright Horizons as they value each member of the team and we are all part of the family!

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
