Head Start Day Nursery and Preschool

Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Head Start Day Nursery and Preschool is based in Lewisham, London and caters for children aged three months to five years. Our nursery setting is open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 18:00.
We offer warm, welcoming environments supporting the transition from home to nursery, and we provide excellent nutritionally-balanced menus using fresh ingredients prepared by our own chef.
Our fees include all meals and snacks that are freshly prepared by our chef, branded nappies, wipes, cream and formula baby milk as appropriate to ensure that transition from home to nursery is smooth.

The nursery has four spacious and comfortable rooms where children start in 'Owl Babies' developing into 'Gruffalo’s ' and making their way up to the preschool room. Children in the nursery are prepared to transition to school through our unique Ready for School Programme which includes our bespoke Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians programmes

There is a large and interesting garden which the children use every day and can free flow between. The nursery offers a wide range of extracurricular activities at the nursery including: gardening club and cookery club.
Our highly qualified team helped us to secure a Good rating in our latest Ofsted inspection.

Meet the Team

Dominique Shera

I started working for Bright Horizons in 2009 at our Caterham Nursery. I have worked in the Early Years sector for over 14 years working in a variety of different settings and with a various age range of children however predominantly birth to 5 years. I have a strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and how best to support children in their development. I have experience not only with Early Years but also within Management.

I love to share my experience and knowledge with others, and really enjoy working with the team to ensure that we provide a stimulating, safe and caring environment for all children.

Ashleigh Stephenson

I have been working at Head Start Nursery since September 2014 when I started as the Room Leader of Preschool and Third in Charge. In February 2015 I was promoted to Deputy Manager.

I have a 5 year old daughter and love spending my time creating fun and new experiences for her.

I have been working in the childcare profession for over 10 years starting as a unqualified nursery assistant  going on to gain my Level 3 in childcare, learning and development.
I love watching the children’s personalities and characters and seeing the interaction between children as they learn and develop into confident little people.
