Excellent resources and activities in our Guildford nursery

A Spacious Setting with Lots to Explore

Your little one will flourish in our newly refurbished Guildford Day Nursery and Preschool. Rated as 'Good' by Ofsted, our nursery provides nurturing childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years for local families, as well as the staff, faculty and students of the University of Surrey, where the nursery is located.

Your child will get the best learning and play experiences in our newly extended nursery. Each of the four spacious rooms has direct access to our beautiful large garden and outdoor area, which is landscaped with soft grounding, ensuring a safe and fun place for your intrepid explorer.

A 'Bright Beginning' for Every Child

Designed by our Early Years specialists, your little one will get the best start to their schooling life through our enriching and wellbeing focused Bright Beginnings Curriculum.

Building on the foundations of the government's EYFS curriculum, it combines a wide range of activities to nurture and develop the skills your child needs to flourish and reach their full potential. This holistic yet personal approach supports each child's development and progress - whether that's moving rooms or preparing them for school.

Community Building

Throughout the year, families enjoy attending various fun events, where we encourage our staff, parents and children to mingle. Join us for Easter egg hunts, summer picnics, Christmas lunches and even visits from Santa. We also host several stay and play sessions, where parents and carers can enjoy first hand a day at nursery.

All-Inclusive Convenience

Hungry tummies will be happy tummies thanks to our onsite chef, who prepares healthy and delicious meals and snacks. All food, wipes, nappies, nappy cream, sun cream and formula are included, saving you time, hassle and money.

Meet the Team

Active Learning Dorking Manager

Becka Pinnells

I began my career in childcare in 2000. I studied at Godalming College for 3 years and gained my CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education and NVQ Level 3.

I have been working for Bright Horizons for the past 12 years starting as a nursery nurse in the baby room before being promoted to Baby Room Manager.

I then went on to study and gain my Foundation Degree in Early Years at Guildford College.

After a couple of years I was promoted to Third in Charge and then to Deputy Manager and became the Nursery Manager of Starfish Nursery, Guildford in 2014.

After 10 years at Guildford Boxgrove I was asked to transfer to Active Learning Dorking to broaden my managerial skills and use my knowledge to support a new team in a different nursery.

Since I was of a young age I knew I wanted to work with children. I love being here and enjoy watching the children come in with a beaming smile and watching them learn something new each day.

I have worked in Bright Horizons now for 4 years and i am really enjoying my role. I currently work part time, as i care for my son who will be 1 next year.  I am really creative and enjoy creating enabling environments for all of the children. In my spare time i enjoy days out with my husband and son and spending time with my extended family.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
