Linzi Preston

I started working with children in 2009 as a kid’s club representative; I worked with ages from 3 months to 17 years! I worked in Turkey for 4 years doing this and I absolutely loved it; I got to take children sailing, swimming, on treasure hunts and lots of other really fun activities.

This job made me very serious about pursuing a career in childcare so when I came back to the UK, I started working in a nursery. I worked mainly in the 2-3’s room and I completed my Level 3 In Childcare whilst working there. This strengthened my knowledge and also meant I could go for a more senior position as this is something I always strived to do.

In September 2014 I had the opportunity to go to Dubai as a nursery class teacher; of course I could not turn down the opportunity of a lifetime! I moved to Dubai and had my own class of 22 children; this was certainly an experience that has improved my leadership skills, knowledge and has broadened my horizons on what I can do.

After spending a year in Dubai I moved back to the UK and started working for Bright Horizons as third in charge/room leader. After 2 months of being with the company I progressed to Deputy Manager and have been stunned to see the endless opportunities available within the company.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
