A place to grow

Edinburgh children's day nursery is a friendly, welcoming extension of the family, rated ‘Very Good’ by the Care Inspectorate. We have an excellent reputation for providing childcare in Edinburgh in the local area. We provide childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years from a purpose-built setting within the David Lloyd Leisure Club at Gyle Park, Glasgow Road. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, loving environment where children can flourish and be themselves. All our rooms are bright and airy with a lot of natural light. We have beautiful, specially-made furniture and play equipment, as well as a computer and IT resources for exciting new ways to learn.

Outdoors in our large secure garden you’ll find the learning environment continues to support children’s development across the curriculum, with lots of scope for investigating and making discoveries. There is a separate under-twos area in the garden where the children can explore in safety with age appropriate resources. We also offer outings in the local area and extracurricular activities which currently is Tatty Bumpkin yoga classes and Caterpillar Music activity.

Mindful of the current economic climate and the challenges this brings for families, the nursery tries hard to keep fees competitive while always balancing this with the need to maintain the high standards of service you expect and which they demand of themselves. Following on from the fee freeze this year, the nursery fees at Edinburgh will be at a new lower rate – please call our nursery to make an appointment to view.

Name of person

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
