Purpose built nursery in north west Cambridge

Eddington Day Nursery and Preschool has been purpose built to offer high quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years, primarily for staff and students of University of Cambridge with spaces for the wider community available.

The four home rooms are each resourced and tailored to the children’s different age groups. There is also a naturally inspiring outdoor play area where your child can explore and flourish. Our brand new nursery offers a range of activities that will support your child’s development in a home-from-home environment. Nutritionally balanced meals are prepared fresh each day by our onsite chef.

Eddington is the heart of a new district developed by the University of Cambridge, which has been known as the North West Cambridge Development, and is located between Madingley Road, Huntingdon Road and the M11.

Meet the Team

Eddington Day Nursery and Preschool

Jemma Payne

I started with the company in June 2009 and was appointed as the Nursery Manager for Bright Horizons Bunnybrookes Nursery in Cambridge, I then took the opportunity to progress further. In 2011 I transferred to Bright Horizons Long Road, a nursery that was for Cambridge University Hospital staff. This nursery offered me the opportunity to work with a larger number of children and build a successful staff team.

The new opening at Eddington for Cambridge University has offered me an opportunity to use my experience on building strong teams and to use my skill set and knowledge to provide excellence to every child and family each and every day.

I have a wealth of experience working alongside families to understand the Ethos through play and how we can collaborate together to make the most out of each of their children’s experience.

I am very passionate about providing excellence and also providing opportunities for my team to grow and to be unique and independent through their work to maintain excellence each day.

Donna Jones Eddington manager

Donna Jones

I started the company in 2010, where I joined the team as a nursery assistant. I completed my childcare L3 qualification At LongRoad Kids unlimited that was later acquired by Bright Horizons.

I enhanced my career in childcare by being promoted to Room Leader of the Toddlers. After a year I wanted to expand my knowledge further to gain more experience as the Preschool Room Leader.

I have enhanced my skill set and knowledge of child development by working alongside families to provide their children with an enriched learning environment.

I am a designated lead in SEND and Child protection.

I was appointed the Third in charge position at LongRoad in 2016 and then pursued my career as a Deputy Manager in 2018 at Eddington.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
